The introduction fotocology is a hybrid terminology created by amalgamating the term “photography” and the suffix “ology”. (And of course, we have to replace the “pho” with a “f” because we are trying so hard to be different.) Photography in its Greek origins means the process of “drawing with light”. The suffix “ology” denotes a field of study or academic discipline. fotocology in essence, is an insight to the locomotion of photography and its fundamental ability to be expressed as an art form. fotocology is helmed by Dennis Chong, a passionate artist who aspires to promote the concept of Artistic Photographic Conceptualization (APC) within the realm of photography. fotocology revolves around the art of preserving memorable times, capturing special moments, drawing strength from photography to tell stories or to spread a message, and to define and express beauty and art behind the shutters.
The philosophy “There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs” Ansel Adams
The essence about fotocology will always be about humans and humanity. It is about the realities of what makes for an artistic, personal and professionally captured image, not about technicalities and rules on what will make a great photograph. fotocology is capable of the creation of visionary concepts of inspired individuals, yet, keeping ever in mind that capturing a moment or a portrait of a happy face is not a look, but a point of view and expression. People make this world, and fotocology thrives on capturing the photojournalistic beauty of these people that make this world. |
